We seem to get though around 15-25 maps at a LAN so on top of the official maps (from memory there are between 10 and 15 official maps) we need another ten or so. Using a highly scientific method* I have picked out the following:
- DE_Menace_Final I've actually played this one online, it turned up on a server rotation and was quite fun. Two bombsites and a couple of fun chokepoints - some range play for those that like that sort of thing too.
- DE_Beachassault Looks pretty hardcore, might be a little too much of a killing field for the defending CT's, but I figure theres not many maps where the CT's have the advantage so would make a nice change :)
- DE_Museum_Remake Remake of the 1.6 map that was quite a LAN staple.
- CS_Northtower Might be a little open but looks fun...
- CS_Estate_Source Remake of the old Estate map from 1.6
- CS_BackalleyV2 Remake of the old Backalley map from 1.6
- CS_Chalet There is no CS_Alpin that I could find, but this looks a relatively close second.
- Cs_Ancient_Arctic_Ruins_v1 Mainly I just thought this one looked nice ;)
- CS_Parkhouse Again I thought this looked interesting.
- DE_Rats_Den_V2 Rats map for a bit of mid session cocking about.
- DE_Sunstroked Rats map for a bit of mid session cocking about.
- DE_Vertigo_Pro Remake of DE_Vertigo
- DE_Fastline Remake of DE_Fastline - one of the more popular of the CZ maps
I will have CD's with the map pack available on the day.
We'll do the usual arrangement - each map repeats once, while the players change ends. When the map changes the players stick to their current end.
Since noone has made any other suggestions on teams I'd say we go with the suggestions of Mr Harrap (posted below for those that don't remember):
Upstairs
- Guru
- Chimaera+
- Erroneous+
- Bonedancer
- Nigelh+
- Gwen
-vs-
Downstairs
- Penfold
- Marter
- Zombie+
- TyRaNiD+
- Jester
- Gonzo
Each team has at least a couple of laptop players (denoted by the +) so shuffling can be done if necessary.
As per folk can set up from the friday before. Please remember at *least* the following:
- Computer with Windows, Steam and Counter-Strike Source installed (Even if that means rebuilding the night before. Mentioning no names zombie90).
- Player names to be set before the event - don't bother with 'spod' or any other modifier, just use chimaera, avon, katekarnage or your equivalent.
- Plug bar (*NOT* Surge Protected)
- Network Cable (at least 3-5m long)**
- Headphones (preferably with mic)
We'll be aiming for a noon start on the Sat. Please try to be ready on time - I know we never are but still, just *once* it would be nice :)
We should, I think, be OK for table space, but you might want to think about a comfy chair or cushion or something...
As previously discussed it will be a fairly vanilla set up - there will be the usual 8secs of freezetime at the start of the round, and 45secs on the clock of the C4. Friendly Fire will of course be on, but there we be no TK punish in place - just go slap your teammate round the back of the head or something :)
Modwise there will be a deathbeam mod so you can see the line of the shot that killed you, and also a personal round stats message screen (damage given to whom, taken from whom, kills and deaths) but thats it as far as stats are concerned - there will be no top15 or statsme stuff in there, and psychostats won't be set up and run until after the event.
Thats about it I think - see you all on Friday 26th!! :)
* Basically I went on a map site and grabbed interesting looking high-rated maps :)
** I don't mind doing a job buy on cable from work but I need to know by the weekend how much is needed.
