OK, not really. As has been observed in times past, the more things change, the more they stay the same. At least it's Autumn today! The leaves changing around the campous here are beautiful. Bright red maple leaves all over the place ( Read more... )

if you even showed up 5 minutes late to class at my high school you were in deep shit! Lol and mental health days? we didnt have them. You had I think 10 days you could miss a semester before they failed you and those were excused absences. Unexcused go you detention. and too many got you kicked out!

I never thought my school was that strict but I guess they just put all their "catholic-ness" in the attendance basket! I was an awesome school academically though ;)

Well, Nova isn't your average high school. It's rather far over to the other side of alternative. It's been great for my elder son, but isn't for everyone.

Despite major supervision last year, Kie's going to end up at least a fifth year senior due to giving up and zoning out. They're currently doing some serious rearranging and consideration of his schedule and how to get/keep him working. He's fortunate, because he has the IDP, which the Girl doesn't.

It's an amazing school, but it's not necessarily for everyone. :-/

She doesn't have IDP, but at least she does have Becky as a coordinator. I talked to her and let her know what KO is dealing with (Summit kid, hellish year at AS#1, PTSD-like reactions to social situations as a result), and she understood better. At least there's that.

The kid has done all of her work thus far, which is kind of odd. She will go to a class long enough to get the work, do the work, but doesn't want to stay in the class because she's afraid the kids are going to be mean.

Excellent. Becky is amazing.

*nod* Maybe she just needs to get comfortable at Nova and that may take time.
