Why not start applying for things now? i.e. why wait until the vacation? I'm sure this gives you some clear time to have a real go at it, but I'm thinking why not start applying to jobs in the paper etc. now, and get registered with the better Internet agencies.

I thought about it, actually. I was really thinking about starting this Tuesday since I'm off and Monday is a holiday here. It's really kind of for my own mindset, I guess. I'm not entirely ready- I still have a cover letter to write, etc- but I'm also still kind of nervous. Not so much about interviews anymore, but more about quitting my current job and going somewhere else. As much as they piss me off at this company, I'm kind of established.

I'm getting a list together of as many different companies as I can before I hit the streets. I'm going to break it down and visit one side of town per day. I only have about seven listed right now, but I haven't been able to look up any more for a few days now.

I do have resumes on about five different places online; Monster.com, Hotjobs, sanantoniohelpwanted.com and a couple of others. There's been some activity lately, but no calls or emails.

Yeah I heard about the two page rule too. Actually it was 1 page plus references. I hate it too, though I'd be happy to drop a few things off of there if I could fill it with something.

I honestly don't know how I could limit it to one or two pages. Well, other than using a smaller font, but that's arguably not a good idea! They'll just have to settle for three pages like I have it, I guess.

Oh my wife was flaming mad! Her father works there too- been there for 35+ years- and she knows how they will take advantage of people. She TOLD me I'd better fight them! Heh! I don't argue with her when she gets like that! ;)

Yeah. :) Good thing the job market is getting less awful, even if it's still not where we'd like it to be.
