Is it just your birthday stirring up poetry or the weather or life in general?

All of the above. A bit each of this, that, and the other. [;-{)}

The thirteen-by-three motif actually came to me last week, when my friend backrubbear reported that it was his third thirteenth birthday. He later recanted his statement, having belatedly realized he was actually only now turning 38! (*chuckle*)

But the image of three thirteens stuck in my head and inspired me to contemplate my life thus far in terms of portioning it into thirds. So it's been vaguely percolating in my consciousness for almost a week, but today seemed like the natural choice for a day to actually write it down.

An interesting observation. While I was mostly thinking about things mathematically, I definitely have some strong cut-points across my life at the turns of thirteen:
- Around thirteen is when I was going through much of my puberty and most of the issues surrounding my hyperactivity were slowing down.
- Around twenty six is when I started becoming sexually aware.
