If asked, could you name the 5 most important/closest people to you in your life? (You don't necessarily have to rank them.) Would your own name be in that list? Would it be family? Friends? Would they have some other designation that only has meaning to you

I'm slightly puzzled, because I wouldn't even thing of putting myself on my own list. You should be able to move people in and out of your "five most important/closest" list, and you're kinda stuck with yourself. If that makes sense.

I don't like being confined to having only five, or possibly as many as five. All of my friends and chosen family are important to me in varying degrees but more importantly in very different ways from each other. But then, I constantly fail at "100 Favorite Movies" or "Desert Island Discs" thought experiments too.

it's a trick question I say. Who would think of listing themself :P

and I'm not listing mine but would be pretty easy for me to do I suspect.

It is a list that constantly changes....
