I think the Labour Party is partly suffering from having been in power for as long as they have, and people will just want a change, any change.

Then 'people' should inform themselves intimately with what the change means. Tory change will sure as hell benefit me. I'll be better off for sure. Shame about those who can't help themselves...

The shortest waiting times since NHS records began

Does this mean I would have had to wait 3 years instead of the year and half they've done to do mainly fuckall to help me?

Not voting for either Tory or Labour.

As long as you vote I don't care who you vote for. A governement and an institution will always fail specific individuals. Its how they benefit society as a whole I base my personal choice upon.

I don't and can't defend their entire record, I'll post more about that tomorrow. I do see a stark choice between them and the opposition. If its a choice between Gordon or 5 yeas of the Estate Agent I know where the choice lies.

The output focus thing on the NHS is changing, the NHS's performance auditors work to ensure value for money and measurable results for ever pound spent.

Oh, I do hope so - then they should be able to keep up the numbers as funding ceases to grow in real terms.

Let's quote 2 examples where the NHS is still stupid:
1) Hospital prescriptions cost less than pharmacy ones, so why are hospitals banned from filling a patient's prescriptions under most circumstances?
2) Heart operations. Gnerally speaking, the sooner you operate, the better the patient does - so costs less and spends less time in high-dependency wards. So rationing by extended waiting time is exactly the wrong thing to do if funds or beds are the issue, rather than surgeon availability.

Thanks for the list of all the good stuff! I have to admit a couple of times recently I've been thinking more in terms of "Please, no return to 80s/early 90s..." rather than the positive stuff.

Not to say that they haven't messed up in many ways, but the memory of the last tory government is very much in my mind, and isn't something I'd like to see repeated. And having the good stuff instead of "not them!" is a beter frame of mind.

Yeah, among what they got wrong, they got a lot right. Our society is fairer and more equal because of Labour.

I don't beleive that. I think society is just as messed up as ever ( ... )
