Good luck with getting the critters taken care of - moving is hell!

Thank you! Moving continents with servere space limits and a big cluttered old place is all seven layers of hell - but nothing compared to my stress about the the animals.

Having just moved a much shorter distance (not quite 300 miles), but with many more creatures (twenty-some cats) I'm right with you. We're down to "one more truckload" of stuff at the old place, and a lot of unpacking at the new one.
Sent you what I could. We're paying two mortgages at the moment, but I really get your problem. Gonna read the book, too.
If you remember - I was one of the proofreaders on The Forlorn . . .

Oh my word - 20 cats. How did you move them? Paying two mortgages is murder, you shouldn't have, but thank you anyway. Sigh. A long time passed since the Forlorn - thank you. It's still selling BTW which is nice.

I bet one more truckload is three. Ours has to fit a container :-(.

Dave, the only thing I expect of you is that you be yourself, tossing coconuts and writing books I can't put down. Oh, and caring, especially for your family and your critters. You know I'm here to do what I can...and I expect you to let me help [VBG]

And I was thinking, earlier today, that I should ask if you had the account set up.

My employer is doing well enough that bonuses were passed out, a couple of weeks ago. I set a portion aside at the time to help with your furry kids. I've not got the computer booted to the personality where the finance stuff is hidden, but I'll pass the funds along as soon as I do. (Probably tonight, but it might be as late as day after tomorrow.)

Thank you very much. I am relieved to hear that someone's employer is doing well. The stress from this has not been doing me well.

My employer holds the patents on a lot of home digital entertainment stuff. When folks trade season tickets for an upscale TV (or wireless hard drive storage for downloaded movies, or . . .), we get a piece of the action. Just as the Great Depression was the Golden Age of Hollywood (killing the play as a business model in most of the US), this is a time when folks who can spend a little for entertainment are choosing the newer, cheaper technology to be entertained by.

I have made a small donation, Wish it could be larger. I have been in very similar circumstances with our own four pawed friends. We're on the elder side and so is one or our companions. We and they wish you well. Oh by the way, I have been one of your happy readers for years and have been following your blog for some time. Keep up your good work, you are appreciated.

Thank you on behalf of our furry companions. And please, I understand all too well that finances are tough. Please don't chip in if it will cause you (or your family or dogs or cats) hardship. I... I usually stand on the other side of this. I find it much easier to give than receive. I'm actually hopeless at receiving graciously. So I'll keep it to thank you. Your four-pawed companions have what they would give you were the roles reversed - your loyalty, love and care, and that after all, is all we can ask. I think the attitudes of writers come through in their books and that I hope makes it easy to understand where I am coming from with this.
Thanks again
Dave

I think this is a great idea. Another book by you, hurray!

Incidentally, I love books in electronic format; they help reduce my own moving problem--the literal tons of books that I and my significant other have managed to accumulate over the years. I'm grateful to Baen for making it easier for me to handle e-books by not DRM'ing them, and I'm delighted with the Baen Free Library.

I've downloaded some of your books from the free library, and I figure I owe you for them. I also figure I'm going to owe you for this new book too. And hey, I owe Baen for maintaining the free library. So I've made you a donation, and I've put in another large order with Baen. If it doesn't settle my debt completely, at least it's a start.

I hope your move works out well for both you and your animals!
