Sleeping together

I've been trying to make a habit of looking at Australian papers. One the things that attracted us in the first place was the lack of normal SA-type news. Or the headline-searing way the commonplace here (rape, murder, robbery, corruption at anything but multi-million stakes), gets into the news there. And the fact that any country that has Paris ( Read more... )

I hate to break it to you Dave, but even the people that live in Adelaide don't read the Advertiser or Sunday Mail.
OK. That may be a slight exaggeration. But only a small one. Most of the dailies have a reputation on par with politicians. For a long while I preferred my news predigested by comedians. It tended to be less sensational than that of the papers. Which says something.
If you are interested in the Australian media then you definitely have to get a weekly dose of MediaWatch on "Auntie" (that's the ABC, the non-commercial government television channel).

I had sort of worked that out :-). I was trawling about, just seeing what they were like. They still paint a picture of Oz, as long as you don't take them as a gospel.

unixronin came to bed one night after I fell asleep. Fairly soon thereafter he got up to plug in the fan because he was too hot to sleep. I woke up almost immediately, patted his side of the bed, and plaintively wailed "You're gone again!" then turned over and went back to sleep while he was saying "I'm just plugging in the fan!"

I don't sleep that well unless he's there. As in, I'll toss and turn all night long and it will be as if I haven't slept at all. My sister the lawyer says, "That's a problem. You shouldn't be that way." I think she's jealous that she doesn't feel the same way about her husband.

(smile) Tell your sister the lawyer that actually there is a good evolutionary reason for your behavior. She's the one who has habituated herself into something that actually is less natural. That will make her soooo happy ;-).

I knew it must be a news.com.au paper as soon as you mentioned Paris Hilton.
www.theage.com.au is MUCH better!

Never having found a spouse, I share my bed with cats. I'm sure I'd sleep better if they were in a separate bed, but I still prefer to have them with me.

When I was in Australia earlier this year, I found the newspapers to be rather lacking in news compared to what I'm used to. The Hobart paper surprised me by offering a wide selection of women willing to share men's beds though. I don't think a good night's sleep was what they had in mine either. I'm not used to seeing those services offered openly.
