Teamwork in programming

If you've programmed much, you've probably had to program with a teammate. Maybe more than one. At first, this seems like a nice arrangement. You do some of the work, they (and I mean they in both the plural and grammatically incorrect single sense) do some of it, everybody is happy.

If only it worked that way. You see, it just doesn't add up like

I dunno that I could code on a team.

My code is disjointed and likely impossible for other people to understand. God only knows what the result would be if I were to contribute to a group project...
