Erik Kleven died in a car crash last night. He was the bassist in that gig I described in my last post. I watched him play two years ago and he inspired me to take up upright bass. Everything about his playing was so effortless and beautiful. He served the music selflessly, and had the utmost respect for all the human beings around him, while

David! it's jim frink. i just stumbled upon your page and read about Erik's passing. what shocking news. he was definitely an inspiration to me when i heard him and the few times i played with him.

but it's good to hear you've been doing a lot of music. hope we can play together again before too long, preferably not at the baskin robbins with crazy john.
