uberlisting for 2014
And Happy New Year!
My film round-ups have been a terrible, and not terribly edifying, use of bandwith here, so this year I'm going to change things up. The bulk of my serious writing can still be found at both the workblog and the House of Sparrows (though as noted in my year-end round-up at HoS, my more extensive writing on the former has seriously reduced my time on the latter).
But here I'm resuming a long-honored semi-tradition from years past. At the Warren Ellis Forum (or maybe mainly on her own splinter forum), Kelly Sue DeConnick posted, in lieu of a series of New Years Resolutions, an Uberlist, a list of things she wanted to accomplish in the coming year. Her formula, as I recall, was 100 things + 1 for every year in the new millennium (101 items for 2001, etc.), but I'm keeping myself to 100 here. Many of these tasks are small and easily digestible, and are really here to serve as minimum points to meet. (For example, nos. 1-12 are simply to ensure that I read regularly enough to average at least a book a month - similarly, 46-57 are there to ensure I keep at least a minimal, regular presence up at the House of Sparrows - many months went by in '13 with but one entry up there, and I was silent thru June.)
And some of these are about reconnecting with the theatre scene, both local and at large.
After moving back into my rebuilt apartment at the end of last year I found myself somewhat planless/directionless. The Uberlist is here to basically give me some structure for the coming year, offer a sense of moving forward and accomplishment each month.
So now instead of a list of the movies I've seen for each month there'l be a monthly update of my progress on this thing.
