That's about when my chiles and tomatoes will go in, but the onions, broccoli, etc. should have gone in back in Feb.

Will you post about your LED starters at the end of the seed starting season? I saw this idea and wanted to try it, but Celeres is worried that the LEDs won't provide the full spectrum of light needed.

Plants don't need a full spectrum of light, they need light at the red and blue parts of the spectrum. Old style fluorescent lights delivered most of their energy in the green and yellow parts of the spectrum, which is useless to plants, so going "full spectrum" was an improvement.

:P One would think that I would have looked this up at some point, I guess I just always figured that plants grow best in the sun, so providing light that is as close to the sun as possible is best. So that's why red and blue lights are needed. Thanks. :)

I was surprised too, until I thought about it.

When something is a certain color, it is because it reflects light of that color. Chlorophyll is green, so it reflects green. When the green dies, the leaves are yellow, so yellow is reflected as well. If plants were good at absorbing all the visible light energy, they would be black.
