BlueJ is a pile of shit, I don't know why universities use it. Netbeans is a step in the right direction but JDeveloper or Eclipse are the way to go.

TBH, from a noob point of view, i liked the fact that you could see how the classes were linked and u could click to run methods etc, it would prompt you for the value rather then diving straight into something like a tester class, i think it gave a better understanding of oo, but anyhow, netbeans is cool with like everyything u need under one roof, it looks kind of like visual studio layout :-O
