Field trip day... what can i say?

Queen Elizabeth's poem, 'On Monsier's Departure' left me dead in my tracks.  The feelings and thoughts that she expresses seemed to perfectly mirror one of my experiences.  I couldn't believe how well she explained the unexplainable - that inner battle, the conflicting thoughts and the regrets.  Which then prompted me to research a few other of her ( Read more... )

Good on you for attempting to write a sonnet!! I wouldn't say that writing poetry scares me, however I am still unable to write a sonnet. Not that I have sat down and tried, but it just seems too intimidating and structured. Also I, like you, have not researched the proper ins and outs of sonnets.

 I'm writing my first week entry in the second week, considering I wasn't functioning in the first week of uni.  Why you ask? I answer: because I was recovering from a tonsillectomy operation.  Definition: the process of removing ones tonsils.  Not such a common operation in adults these days, recovery from a tonsillectomy is rather painful, ( Read more... )

Before having read ‘Under Milkwood’, I had heard a lot of feedback in regards to it. Apparently it the weirdest, most nonsensical play anyone had ever read, it made no sense at all and was completely abstract with no storyline. As you can guess, this provided me with a lot of confidence that I would enjoy reading it…or not. Although all of these ( Read more... )

Here are just a few ideas of mine that have been flying around in my head in regards to the idea of social constraint, control and language. I guess they grew from reading 1984 and other people entries on it. I’m not sure if they are 100% clear, but have tried to express myself as clearly as possible.
