I thought I’d give my opinion following the end of the first season of Peter Capaldi’s role as The Doctor. As people may recall I wrote up a review following seeing his first episode, at that time I thought the show had a reasonable but not brilliant start, but I was concerned about the Missy character and whether that would be a good underlying

I watched the first two episodes and then completely lost interest in the show. I don't even know if I want to watch them and catch up with them later. :-[ I always wished they replaced moffat at the end of the season....

My advice would be not to watch them they were as I said not worth the effort. I've been desperately hoping for Moffat's departure from the series for some time now, I don't think the show will be worth watching until after he's gone.

We kept watching because we watch Dr Who, for no other reason. Last Saturday my hard core, long standing Who fan said of Atlantis (which, while I LOVE that show, I recognise is completely camp and cheesy) "that wasn't bad, at least it wasn't Who"

I know I wonder how many of their audience were watching just because of what the show represents rather than what it is now.

Quite a few I suspect. But equally I've seen both positive and negative responses to the series. Some people do seem to genuinely like this iteration.

Though they may be the die hard Capaldi fans as much as anything else.

I've seen on DW forums people waxing lyrical about how superb these stories are, how the show's going from one 10/10 plot to another. To be honest I'm often left wondering not so much how they can like something I find so intolerable but whether they've actually made two versions of each episode and I'm one of the people being tortured by the bad version for some past (or current) evil deed.
