Nexus One Review

I've been working with my Nexus One since receiving it Wednesday morning. I can honestly say I have been very surprised. After reading the reviews, I expected to be underwhelmed (and returning it within the 30 day window).

Fortunately (or unfortunately for my wallet), I've fallen in love with my new toy, and here's why:

If you root it, it can. If you don't root it, you can use it as a proxy. Google made rooting easy on this one. You just have to void your warranty to unlock the bootloader. I want to do it, but I want to at least wait until after the 30 days!

I have the exact opposite problem. My apt is a blackhole for AT&T, and I don't think they ever launched the Fem2Cells, so I'd have to move. Tmo has the @Home VoIP, but it doesn't seem to support UMA yet.

are you sure you aren't talking about my moto droid? ;P

i'm on verizon and before switching to the droid, i switched my vm to google voice. i'm happy to say that it works flawlessly with the droid. love the integration. verizon charges $3/month for visual vm so free google voice is total win.

while no ipod killer, i use tunewiki as my music manager. it's better to me than the built in app.

I think a lot (if not all) of those features are probably in the Droid, as they're probably more a function of Android than the phone itself. But that new CPU certainly doesn't hurt ;)

rub in the snapdragon why dontcha ;P

if TMo didn't suck so bad here, i could totally see myself having waited until the Nexus was released. all in all, i'm currently satisfied with my Droid. give me a couple more weeks and i'm sure i will start having phone envy for something else tho.

Nicely written - it's hard to stay objective these days :) I'll be interested to see the video voice mail feature - not that I use voice mail all that much, but it would come in handy at certain times.

Great review. I've been looking at the Droid. I've read the Nexus will be coming to Verizon in the spring. Might wait and see them side by side before I make the switch.

My poor blackberry is looking like a rotary phone every day haha
