My boyfriend and his brother used to go to DragonCon until his brother decided he was a Furry and is now saving his cash for AnthroCon. I've heard good things about DragonCon, especially if you're into that scene. I didn't want to go to a Con until I saw that some of the animation studios that I would like to speak with about my work were appearing at ComiCon. So maybe I'll be joining your "kind." hehe.

DC is fun! You just need to stay outside of DC. If you DO come this way, let me know! ^___^

As for DragonCon, its bloody huge. I had a decent time when I went, but I prefer smaller conventions where it is easier to sit down and acctually chat with people rather than shoving yourself through stuffed hallways and only getting to say "excuse me for bumping into your butt!" It is one of those things where you go WITH friends rather than expecting to meet new friends when you get there.

Well, I am from the Atlanta area, so I do know people there. I also like a lot of the panels there. That's how I first found out about Venus Envy, among many other fine webcomics.

And even if you never go, you can always impress people by talking about the "Miss Klingon Beauty Pageant."

Heh, knowing people from the area, and knowing the area itself, makes a huge difference, and the con itself is just great.

*DIES* The "Miss Klingon Beauty Pageant"??? I totally missed that one!
