I wasn't really digging it much until this season. My main problem before, which I've only just figured out, was the star. I loved every actor on the show except for Eliza Dushku. (Especially phenomenal is Enver Gjoka, who plays Victor.)
Now that she's not having to try and be a different person each week, she's gotten much better, but I was just unimpressed with her acting before and it broke the whole thing for me.
I also suspect that part of the problem is that the network still really only counts Nielsen ratings and DVR viewings within the first 24 hours. Whereas I imagine a lot of people who watch shows like this are the sort who are watching online or via DVR more than 24 hours after the airing.

It was on at the same time, and the same day. It just kept consistently doing really poorly in the ratings for that particular slot.
This isn't surprising considering the lack luster, in comparison to the fanboy/fangirl hype around Firefly, relating to Serenity.
