I was scheduled to donate blood this morning. For the first time ever I passed the hemoglobin test 2 visits in a row. I figured I was clean and green. Everything was going just great until they tried to actually draw blood. Besides being extremely painful, my arm refused to bleed. So, after getting poked and stuck it ended up being all for ( Read more... )

I don’t think I am better than anyone else in line.
You're not worse/less than anyone else in line, either. Do not feel awful about the parking space. There is nothing wrong with taking care of your own health needs. Your needs deserve just as much consideration as anyone else's.

Good for you for donating blood.
You're a much better person than me, seeing as how I'd most likely pass out about two blocks before getting to the blood place. ;)

I'm sorry that you dislike the handicapped parking tag.

Keep in mind that although you would be sliding in line in front of a number of people, most of those people don't NEED a parking spot in the building.

For most of them, it's just a perk for having been with the company for some number of years. Think of it (for those other people) as an additional gift for having been there for 12 years (or however long the line currently is).

I can understand hating he parking tag. It is a marker that has alot of emotional significance. It enables special privileges, something not wanted from a person who enjoys working and being productive. It is a reminder that your body is betraying you.

It is also a symbol that we as a society have some commitment to easing the lives of pple who need it. To me it is a symbol of hope we will some day see that universal healhcare is a human rights issue.

Stepping off soap box. Take care of yourself, you have struck me as the type of person who will go out of her way to help another, but needs reminding it is ok to take care of yourself. If it was one of your friends, how would you advise them on the parking tag and work parking space?
