Who still says "Return key" instead of "Enter key"? I sometimes think it, but I'm not sure if I actually say it. When paired with the word "key" Return sounds more natural to me, but if it's just press Enter vs Press Return, Enter sounds more natural

I don't think I've said "return key" in a while, it's so archaic to me. Return keys refer to back in the day of Typewriters and word processors.

If the key wanted to be called Return, it wouldn't have Enter written on it :P

Also: Your face sounds natural!

some keyboards to feature a "return" key rather than an "enter" key. They're few and far between nowadays though.

Yah, I'm sure I say return every once in a while. Not often, but...

Why was it a return key ever? Where does it return you to? The next line? You didn't return there, you're going there. Enter makes more sense since you're entering the next line.

Fuck the return key, you don't get me to where you promise.

Well, in typewriters it returned the head to the front of the line, at least I think that was the explaination

bingo. technically they're slightly different things too. Return is short for carriage return, which yeah, returns the carriage to the beginning of the line. The most frequent use is to start a new line. I would imagine that's why "new line" and "carraige return" were combined into one key... just a return on a comp isn't too useful... but it does get used sometime. As dave will agree, they're coded differently actually. /r often is JUST a return, where as on older systems /r/n (return - newline) is used to do a return and newline. Modern systems though just use /n to do this.
