Gone Editing

I am going into the editing cave for Book 3. I will re-emerge with a beautiful butterfly of a book or whenever the feeling hits me as there is Halloween, Dia de los Muertos, various contests and a tour coming up but right now I have to type. A lot.

How long do your edits typically take?

I've been editing/revising the same novel since January this year and I'm finally taking a break from it. I know part of the reason it's taken me so long has been my own time management with work as well some other issues such as seeing a lot of glaring problems.

I often say you can have the manuscript back when you pry it from my ink-stained fingers. I will NEVER STOP EDITING if given my druthers so having a deadline forces me to give it up and give it over. I am almost at the half-way point because I have an editor expecting it back so I'm hitting it hard and will allow myself to go back over it ONCE when I am through.

My own edits can take months to a year. Edits for publication take weeks to a month.
