I know the underpainting colour scheme depends a whole lot on the "feel" you want the final painting to have, but do you actually have a preference? I remember when I took painting class I usually liked the browns/umber colours vs. the greys or anything else.

I prefer browns/umbers over greys because they are warmer. If some of the underpainting shows through, I would rather it give a warmer glow than a dull grey. Although, grey would be handy if I wanted a cooler feeling.

mmm, looking good.

Tell me, did you ever find a solution to the problem of how you get your reference photos? I've not been reading LJ for a while and anyway I sometimes miss posts due to having too long a f-list...

I decided to just continue taking photos anyway, on the sly.
I understand why they have that policy in place--they don't want competitors, etc. stealing information about products, display, layout, etc.
My art is not intended to, nor is it likely to have any affect on the stores I'm taking the images from.

I know exactly where that is, Lis, it's the crafty section of wally's isn't it?!

Hey Laura. Yes, part of this is the crafty section of Wally's (the left side), but I've kinda mish-mashed a couple of different things together here.
