Dawn! holy crap! Sounds very suspicious to me too, how weird is that?? but then, one can have a reaction to most anything I suppose. Funny, I just changed foods with my dogs, they are getting the Wellness now and also changed their protein/carbs to fish/sweet potato. They really like it. You might even want to try sweet potato in with Bragi's food at some point....it's a great low-glycemic index carb (yes, that's from way back in my bodybuilding days, lol!)
Give him many smoochies from his Auntie Tag! Keeping fingers and paws crossed here all goes well!
Yams/sweet taters are on the list of future starches, Tracey. I'll find a good strong green vegetable to complement them (not broccoli) and an appropriate meat to balance the nutrients. I'm really going to try my best to meet his nutritional needs without adding synthetic supplements. I'm thinking the occasional marrow-filled fresh bone will go a lot farther than a vitamins supplement towards meeting his needs.
All puppies like a change once in a while. =D Bragi seems to think life ain't right unless he's got three or four gourmet meals to choose from. He's almost as spoiled as I am. =P
Huh, how about that. That is the *exact* same recipe that John's mom does for her dogs (when she has the time to do it). She likes using oatmeal or rice a lot, and turkey or chicken for the meat (her one dog is allergic to beef, it gives him horrible digestion problems, how weird is that?). I swear, that woman reads every dog book she can get her hands on. You two would probably get along famously ;)
Keeping my fingers crossed that it's as simple as that for your guy with the parsley. (And I love the pictures of him!)
Thanks, Stephanie. =D I'm pretty sure it isn't as simple as just an allergy to parsley, but there's something going on that seems to be food-triggered. I'm more concered with preserving his life than I am with conducting scientific experiments, so it may have to remain a mystery.
I have no doubt your mother and I would get along. We may be twins, separated at birth. ;)
look at bragi! what a cutie :) yeah - we never know how or what will affect us or our babies. i hope it is the parsley! my mom sent me something interesting and i have no idea why she sent it to me - LOL! but i'm going to give you a link anyway *wink (it's for kids with epilepsy - again - why she sent this to me, i don't know) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketogenic_diet
lol! i don't know why she sent it. it's not the atkins diet "non-connection" *wink. i've emailed her to ask why :) but you're the only one i know that knows someone that has seizures, so i thought i send it along :) sweet dreams, jen

Might have been the Atkins diet connection. That article didn't appear to think the Atkins diet was appropriate without modification.
Most doctors think that, too.
