My answer would probably be something like "within reason", those reasons mostly be what you mentioned above. I'd like to add the caveat that this counts for what is transmitted on public media, like the television or the radio. (And, to some extent, the internet.)

I'd be far less strict when it comes to media you actively have to pursue, though; like DVDs, CDs, magazines, et al. Sure, I wouldn't REALLY want anyone to release anything racist/misogynistic/hateful, but unlike anything going over the airwaves in public stations, at least you can choose NOT to support it or even lend it an eye/ear.

Yes, this is a very generalized answer, but it's not even 6 in the morning and I have to go to work very soon. :-P

That's about my general idea too. It sounds all good and noble to say "NO Censorship EVAR", but there will always be some exception, and some forms of 'thought control' are good for society.

Censorship is such a loaded word now with so much negative baggage attached to it that people cease to think when it's brought up. It's always considered a Black and White situation when it's really anything but that. But I've always been leery of people who only look at the world in such a polarizing fashion. Even a well-intentioned zealot is still a zealot.
