...but, should ye do, I'd like to recommend the Dark Tower series by Steven King. Normally, I'm not a huge fan of 'is. shock and shlock crap, designed to grab attention, but, when you break it down? The man has a GENIUS imagination. In a few books, he really lets it out, Eyes of the Dragon, The Stand, and finally, the epic of epics, The Darktower

I was given the whole of the Dark Tower by a frienda few years ago. I enjoyed book one, really liked book three, and had to quit at the end of book 5 (or was it 6? [hard to identify them without spoiling stuff])

I like the flashback stuff, because it was exciting goings-on in a normal world. The further it got into his make-believe world, the less I cared. Especially when ou Know Who shows up; that just broke it for me.

I like the bit about the train in book 2 or 4, though.
