Ahhh...so this is what it feels like to be normal! The stint is out and I'm feeling like a new person. I forgot what normal was. I am so happy right now!! :-) And now on to some exciting news!

My sister in law gets along with her chiropractor very well. Well at her office, there is one other doctor. That doctor is leaving the practice. So this woman dr. is thinking of changing what the business is. She is still going to give chiropractic care, but she wants to turn the clinic into a well-rounded wellness center. She wants to have a nutritionist there, info about weight loss, a psychotherapist and a massage therapist. I think I might be leaving something out.
Anyway, this woman does give massage therapy too but she mentioned to Dawn that she wanted another massage therapist that would only do that. Well Dawn mentioned me! Well Gail (I'll just call her that...not her real name) expressed interest. I of course never completed the degree in school and I'm not licensed or certified. Gail said in the city of Bloomington where her practice is you don't have to be. Well I met with her last night along with Dawn. She is wonderful. I liked her from the start. I had always said I did not want to do massage therapy full time, but the more we talked, the more excited I got. I got to see her clinic. When I walked into the massage room, I don't know - - it just felt right. I just had this feeling come over me.
So here are some particulars. I am going to be giving her a massage at 4pm on Friday. She wants to do this so she can see what I am like. If she has chiropractic patients she thinks can benefit from massage, she will refer them to me. (She does not feel right referring them to herself!) But she wants to see what I can do before she would recommend me.
What I love is that I would learn so much from her. I am a hands-on learner. Going to math class and crap just bugs me about the degree thing. That's why I have no desire to go back to school. I learned a lot while there and I learned a lot of techniques. Now I want to learn by experience! What will be nice is I would be working for myself. I'm using her massage table and everything which is another plus. I would not have to bring anything into this but myself.
My game plan is to do what Gail suggested. If she likes what I do on Friday that is! :-) I would devote 10 hours a week to this for 3 months to see how I like it. I will devote the full 10 hours...either to massaging (hopefully!) or building my clientele. I'll have to get the word out and get my business cards out. Of course I won't be quitting my full time job. So it will be rough first starting out, but I have to do it. These 3 months is a no-lose situation. If it doesn't work out, it doesn't. The worst that can happen is I can make money! lol. I am going to set my price at $60/hour. Less than Gail because I don't have the experience she does. Clients will pay the money to the clinic itself and Gail will turn around and pay me the money I have earned based on my clients. Then I pay her for the rent. Of course I will have to pay my own taxes and worry about my own insurance. My mom said something about finding insurance for private business owners. She said you could join a group as opposed to just personal which would be a lot more.
After the 3 months I need to decide how it is going. If it is going well then I devote 15 hours. When I finally have enough clients and think I will have a steady income THEN I will quit my full time job. It will take a lot of planning and praying, but I am so excited about this! This is quite the opportunity!
How great will it be not to have to check with anyone to go on vacation? I can just not book clients for that time and go! I am just so excited about this.
