I found the song!! Possum Kingdom by the Toadies. The phrase "do you wanna die" popped into my head a few minutes ago and I remembered it was repeated several times. I googled that and behold! The minute I saw 'Toadies' I knew that was it. I know it's about a lake and a guy murdering a girl, but I like to think of it as a vampire song for some

The Toadies were a (relatively) local band where I grew up, and "Possum Kingdom" is the name of a lake near my town where everyone went in the summer to hang out, water ski, etc. The song is a reference to that location, but I also heard from my ex-girlfriend that it actually was about vampires. The lyrics certainly would seem to indicate that.
But...a couple years after that song came out, I was back in said hometown at a bar hanging out with some old friends. The song came on the jukebox, and I said something about vampires. Everyone started laughing at me and assured me it was not about vampires.
Bottom line: I don't know the answer.
