AIM to die soon?

AOL just sacked everyone on the AIM team except support. Logically this means that without engineering, without bug fixes, without security, this product will die.

Not looking forward to this.http://9to5mac.com/2012/03/13/is-aols-aim-service-on-the-

aaaghhh please no ;_; i dont wanna lose it after like 8 years of use. i have NO IDEA what the freaking heck theyre doing with that wacky new aim, because AIM 7 is perfect in just about every way. I dont know why theyre thinking showing as little information as possible in the window is a good idea.

someone just make a perfect aim clone for me of how it was in like, version 5, and ill be happy

I use AIM more than Yahoo and MSN combined and this is sickening news. I hope someone can emulate AIM down the line on a network level, but since everything is tied to AOL database it's almost impossible to do so.
