Halloween Short Story

My publisher, Zharmae, has been posting spooky short stories all month and today was my turn. My story, "Ghost Cakes," uses the characters from Finders Keepers, and is set before the book's opening, a few months after the boys' father died.

At last! It's a great story, daw. Very atmospheric. You managed to give us a sense of these boys and their mother and their circumstances and relationships without just trying to wedge it into a theme. I hate writing to themes. I loved it. The last line is just so perfect too.

Thank you, Dot. I'm thinking now that bits of it are overwritten, but mostly I was happy. It was easy to write. Sort of like writing fanfic about my own story.
