He probably thinks it's exciting to be a fan & catch a foul ball, the same way the rest of us would think it was exciting to hold the all-time record for stolen bases & runs scored.
Totally. I mean, if I found a Hall of Fame plaque on the street with my name on it, I certainly wouldn't hand it over to some little snot-nosed kid.
As an aside: So Rickey's playing for the Sox in 2002, and a few people walking ahead of me on Boylston St spot him, stop him and say hello. Somehow I get drawn into the conversation long enough to hear the following nugget:
