I just about jumped around and cheered last night when Obama's campaign people called and said that it's over for her, that he's the obvious nominee... Even though they were asking me for (more) money. (I gave them $50.)
Today it's all over our papers that when he wins in Oregon it will solidify his lead in pledged delegates and that she could not make it up and that he is going to declare victory based on us :) Quote from the paper this morning:
Obama, fresh off a big win in North Carolina and a near draw in Indiana, is coming Friday and Saturday to Oregon, a state that can deliver him the majority in the total of available pledged Democratic delegates.
“That will happen on the night of May 20,” said Obama campaign manager David Plouffe, referring to the primary election date of both Oregon and Kentucky. Speaking with reporters on a conference call, he said it will be “an incredibly important moment in the campaign when Sen. Obama clinches a majority of the delegates - which is an expression of the will of the voters in this contest.”
There are two kinds of miracles that could save Hillary's campaign.
The first is that the online ferrets and cyber-sleuths discover something really unseemly about Barack Obama that torpedoes his candidacy.
But it is hard to imagine what could be more damaging than the toxic rhetoric of his former pastor, whose collateral damage was far less serious than most of us had imagined.
The second miracle is that Barack Obama is spirited away to a distant star by little green men. This, on balance, is the more likely scenario.
