Is there such a thing as a healthy vampire?

You know, within The Vampire Diaries canonical world and thinking in a mental health capacity, because I don't think we've seen any vampires that I would consider healthy individuals (maybe Caroline though, thinking about it?).

I think the older they get the more unhealthy they get. Adter that many years I think it would start to break you down.

That's what has me worried for poor Caroline. :( And the boys, not to mention. I harbor this hope that eventually they will both become well-rounded, mentally healthy and stable adults...but I don't really see it happening. Longevity does seem, as you pointed out, to break them down.

I think they are healthy in their own twisted way. I think they are if they accept completely that they are vampires but they still have their humanity and feelings left.

I think this may be exactly right. Or, at least, in very large part. Because they still have all their human issues to deal with after dealing with the vampire issue and those human issues get amplified because of them being vampires and it's all very circle-y and complicated.

I completely disagree! Like, Caroline is 'healthy' in the traditional sense because fundementally, she lives the life of the eighteen year old girl that she is. But when she is say a hundred and something, that is going to be an issue! Is she going to be like Rebekah, after the cheerleading title and the hot boyfriend? THAT'S A BIT WEIRD, GUYS... This is why I am sad Henrik died - I wanted there to be an original vampire trapped in the body of an eight year old who fell in love with a human eight year old girl ( ... )

So if she continued acting her age as she grew older (at fifty, acted fifty; at 1000, acted 1000), would she still be healthy? How does one even act 1000 years old? So many complications...

I wanted there to be a kid!vampire, too. WOULD HAVE BEEN AWESOME. Although, I didn't think ahead to him having a story line but a love story would have been really interesting.

think Katherine is reasonably healthy, well, I say reasonably because she doesn't really care about any life other than her own. But she is set up as the villain, so it's not surprising and not neccessarily connected to her vampirism.I was thinking about putting her in the healthy corner, too, but then I considered her disregard for everybody else and voted against it, ( ... )
