Snow days and Piano practice...

Well, we went from temps barely breaking the single digits over the last few weeks to being nearly 45 degrees today! Not that I'm complaining: I like the fact that we had some snow days over the course of a couple of weeks ( Read more... )

I so envy you! I took piano lessons for about three years but I don't remember any of it, lol.. well I think I can play "The caissons go rolling along" which was the only song I ever really learned, lol.

I know exactly the Enya song you are talking about (one of my favorite artists..). That's so awesome that you can play that!

Anyway, that's a very cool goal to set!

Yeah, I love Enya. I can also play "Watermark" on the piano, but I learned that like 6 years ago. "Fallen Embers" is probably the first "real" song (which I like to call those that are not "easy piano" pieces) I've learned since Watermark.

Right now, the middle G#/A flat key is broken, but my parents are paying to have it fixed for a birthday present (the hammer snapped off, but it's a clean break and the guy who usually tunes my piano has a way to fix it)

And unfortunately that is a pretty important key, especially to Enya and Andrew Lloyd Webber, apparently LOL. I know some Phantom of the Opera songs, but they all require that key. So, once that gets fixed, I'll be all ready to go to learn more songs :)

Oh, and BTW...when a piano instructor tells you not to bang on the keys in frustration, they mean it (in one bit of frustration last June, I must have pounded too hard and that's how the hammer snapped LOL) SO...lesson learned :)

ttyl!
