[And it's a damn good question to ask, that's for sure. Not that Brayko's going to answer it for him just yet. Nope, he just surveys the room as he walks in, makes sure he has the agent alone before he actually turns his attention to him. Damn man, you look like shit.]

You just manage to piss people off everywhere you go, don't you Mikhail? [And really, that's said a little more cheerfully than the situation probably calls for. He shuts the door before he approaches the man.] Which was it? You shoot their dogs, or fuck their girls?

[Look at him being funny. :|]

[He won't even lie, there's something very cheering about seeing Thorton in this condition. That hazy smirk that crosses his face says as much; he doesn't try to hide it. And it only grows as he walks over, half circling as he takes stock of the agent's injuries.]

That's not an answer. [Brayko stops just in front of him. Then, after a moment, he reaches down to grab the man's jaw, force Thorton's head up.] Hey.

All of this is my turf. [Or at least it is now. And hell if he isn't going to have himself a little fun with it while he can, though the lack of Thorton's usual bite seems almost disappointing for the mobster. He shrugs, let's the man's head fall again, but only for a moment. The next thing lifting Thorton's head is the cold steel of a knife.]

Look, it's a simple question. [He's trying not to press the blade too deep, really. But when he has to place it so firmly under Thorton's throat just to keep it steady, the thin line of red that follows is hard to avoid.] What did you think you were going to accomplish?

[If it wasn't already obvious how much Brayko's enjoying this, that smug little grin is a dead giveaway. It really is almost too bad that he couldn't have been here sooner, been able to watch it all unfold himself.]

You're telling me this? It wasn't my boys that you shot. [It would be so easy, though, to finish off what was started here. A little bit of well deserved payback, and if he's right, it's not as if there's many people that would actually miss Thorton at this point, that he wouldn't be doing a favor for.]

[But even Brayko has a sense honor. And after a while, he curls his lip, and finally pulls the knife away - being none too gentle about it - and moves around behind the agent.]

I thought your business sense was smarter than this.

[Well, that's almost back to the old Thorton. Brayko only snorts in reply, grabs the back of the man's head and forces it back down, and....]

I don't make mistakes like that twice.

[And then he's cutting through the ropes binding him. They're almost too tight to slide a blade under, and shaky hands ensure he cuts through fabric and skin as much as he does rope, but after a few minutes he's able to start pulling them away.]

You're lucky I had a reason to come out this way. [The fuckers still owed him money from their last deal, after all. The nasty little rumour that they'd been holding an American on the premise had been a surprising bonus, but finding out it was Thorton....he's still not sure if he should be impressed that someone managed to catch the man in the first place, or disappointed that the agent even let it happen.]

[But he'd prefer to not lose such a useful contact if he can help it.]

[He doesn't move to help, but he does keep an eye on Thorton as he moves, watches the man struggle to collect himself. When he's finally upright, Brayko gestures to him, knife still in hand.]

I owe you nothing after this.
