[ ooc ] Canon Update - Chapter 107
History Update:
Last time we checked in with May, she was heading back to Central after being tricked by Envy, and the poor dear does not resurface until chapter 91. May remains oblivious to his evil motives, up until they reach a lab in Central. She is attacked by strange doll creatures, part of the "immortal army", and Envy attaches himself to one in order to regain his body. She is then chased around the lab, while a huge rebellion against the army is starting above. She comes through a gate and ends up with Ed-Mustang-Riza-Scar-Chimera-&-co, who are also fighting off the immortal army. And now, curtsy of May, they get an Envy too. Then Roy goes on the barbecue Envy, while May runs on ahead in chapter 93.
Once again, poor girl is neglected, and only shows up again in 101. At this point, Ed, Al, and Izumi have been taken to Father (+Hoho-papa). May shows up after Riza's throat has been slit, in an attempt to get Roy to attempt to transmute her (and therefore, see the Truth). She's chasing a vile of Philosopher's Stone, but gets distracted by her moral need to heal Riza. But Wrath comes and gets the stone, and then Pride shows up. Roy is forced to open the gate, leaving the rest of the basement group to worry... and deal with Wrath. Until Scar puts a hole in the ground.
May's a genius, so she goes down to confront the Father-blob and demand immortality from it. May stubbornly fights, even when she's clearly losing, but is lucky to get protected by Al. But even with everyone now against Father-blob, he activates his giant circle. The entire country is used in his massive stone, though May is spared because she's so near the center (as are a few others).
So now, Father-blob has become Ed-Clone Father. All hope seems lost, but Scar activates the circle his dead brother had prepared, and Hoho-papa helps so that the mass country's people killing reversed. With the tables seemingly turned, everyone begins pounding Father with their attacks, to try to get him to use up his stone. Unfortunately, he's still at God-like strength, and blasts a good deal of Central.
May is among those caught in the blast, but Alphonse uses his armor body to shield her. His blood seal is damaged, and Ed is in a tough spot because his automail arm is broken and his flesh arm is skewered to some rubble. Probably because he realized his blood seal wouldn't keep him bound to the armor for much longer, Al asks May to help him get Ed's arm back. May uses her rantanjutsu so that Al can transmute from a distance, and he trades his soul for Ed's arm--- just as Ed traded his arm for Al's soul.
And then Ed goes to kick ass, while May is crying, feeling helpless because she is so beat up, and heartbroken because she practically assisted Al in a suicide sort of thing.
This brings May to Chapter 107.
Personality Update:
May had been quite childish up until this point. She was manipulated by Envy into returning to Central, but quickly learned from her mistake. Her caring nature shines through, as May puts the safety of Riza (whom she doesn't even really know) before country when healing rather than chasing down the stone, and she's matured into quite the strong willed fighter when faced with all of this danger.
But more than any of that, May's biggest difference will probably be that she's a bit depressed. She did, after all, just help the person she loved give up his soul. She will have a great deal more respect for Edward, because Al just died for his sake, and now Ed is in the process of smacking Father around. She's also had quite a few reality slaps to the face, ranging from being tricked into helping Envy to the fact she no longer just lives for her Clan; May is determined to protect everyone, even people she just barely knows, which will drastically alter her role in Mayfield. May will likely become a lot more active in attempts to get everyone out of Mayfield safely, and get off of the passive bench she's been keeping warm for so long.
