I know this is a weird thing to post about, but... (TV-related, US only)

Starting February 17th (i.e., tomorrow), CBS is going to air Dexter on Sundays at 10 PM EST. If you're even remotely into crime dramas or can stomach the concept (a Miami forensics expert that doubles as a vigilante serial killer, i.e. one that only murders twisted criminals. It's not nearly as violent as you'd think.), I strongly urge you to check ( Read more... )

I assume by "That Stupid Island Show" you mean Lost? I fucking loved that show, but I've only seen up to the end of series two. The every thing was shown on digital. THe DVD is damn expensive. It'll probably take Dexter ages to get over here.

Dunno if there's any plans for Dexter to air over there (i.e. I can't find any), but stranger things have certainly happened.

And if it makes you feel better, the third season of Lost dragged for roughly the first half with some odd filler (nobody cares about how Jack got his tattoos, for fuck's sake), and having a character who didn't get enough screen time as it is get killed off in the same episode that two rather annoying new ones showed up (though they took care of THAT loose end later on) was a really bad move.

Heh. "That stupid island show" is, if it's the show I think it is, about the best thing on US TV nowadays anyway, excepting Heroes. Lost got off to a rough start, but I thought the third season was great, and I'm really digging the current season so far. I left-angle-bracket three Ben. He's just so... strange, yet awesome.

As for Dexter, I watched the whole thing. Great show. Kinda loses its edge a bit in the second season (probably due to lack of source material) but it's really a downgrade from "awesome" to "great," so it's not a big deal.

Trust me, I meant no disrespect for Lost, it's just a jab at the kind of crap I tend to get in response when I mention being a fan of it. And agreed, the fourth season hasn't dragged at all so far; this is the point where even the haters have to agree it's improved. Also seconding the love for Ben. He's a fantastic head-games kind of villain, and I've always felt kind of guilty for liking him.

Regarding Dexter, do yourself a favor and stay far, FAR away from Dexter in the Dark (the most recent novel). The origins of his Dark Passenger are just so stupid that I'm praying the writers have the common sense to never try and adapt into a season of the show.

Yeah, I knew you were noting that others bash you for it. Also, thanks, will stay away from the novel. (Though honestly, realistic fiction isn't my thing. Odd, really, considering I tend to like it in dramatic movies and some TV shows, but so it goes.)
