Good points about the Morgan-Hotch parallel. I agree that it isn't in the same league as what Hotch went through on a personal level. If Spicer had been someone Morgan, say, went to the Academy with or was Morgan's cop contact when Morgan was 'deep undercover', then it would have had a greater emotional connection.
Nice catch about Hotch & the father's being stabbed. And then there was the dead silence on the jet when Reid mentioned "The Fox" as a family annihilator.
I'm hoping that they remember Reid's love of Halloween. There are days that I wish that the CM writers had the same canon-checkers that ST did. Ah well.
Yeah, I know they're trying to create a deep emotional connection... but... no, not so much really. I get why Morgan identifies. I really do. I get that he's emotionally invested. But... no... this is not the same thing as Hotch and Foyet and it seems odd that they're trying to say that it is.
*sigh*
I did love that they referenced "The Fox". And I did love the silence. Yeah... awkwardness there or what?
Here's hoping that Halloween episode gets back to being awesome.
How are you doing, btw? You and your mom and family are still in my thoughts and prayers.
Yeah, Morgan's situation was awful, but it did NOT equal Foyet. Especially when Hotch had been haunted by the Reaper for 10 years before he even became personal to Foyet

Good point about Hotch being haunted by the Reaper. Yeah, he continued to work on the profile for years. Then realizing that he had been duped by the killer's ruse of acting as a victim had been a hard blow. I feel for Morgan. I really do. I get why he identifies with Ellie. But no, it's not the same as Hotch and Foyet. It's just not and I'm getting a little annoyed that they keep trying to say that it is

Thank you for writing this. I was afraid I was the only one WTF'ing at the whole situation with Morgan implying that he's having the same kind of troubles Hotch has. First with Tim Curry situation and this week with Jack.
While discussing this whole situation I've been told that Morgan is growing up - he's not the easy going guy in 1-4 seasons but really stressed kind right now. And he also distanced himself from the team, even Garcia. Not sure if it's part of his "becoming Hotch-like leader" growth, but it looks like he's having a "major depressive episode" all the time now. Which is sad.
Anyways, hope next week will bring us some joy, with Reid's love for Halloween <3
Okay, I'll buy that Morgan is "growing up" (which I suppose is learning to be a leader... or having a "major depressive episode"... it's sometimes the same thing in CM). But... still... Morgan's situation is nowhere near the intensity of what Hotch went through. It just seems odd that Morgan keeps comparing them.
There better be Reid Halloween love in this upcoming episode or there will be some serious ranting.
So RL has been absolutely ridiculous lately and this is how far behind I am but- OMFG AGREED.
Morgan just tends to irritate me in general sometimes, but then I look at his bushy caterpillar eyebrows and I'm like 'aww Morgan' and I get over it... this particular episode? The eyebrows weren't cutting it.
If I were Hotch I would have punched him. And I agree with all you said above, especially about awesomely stoic Hotch.
Hey there! How are you doing, btw? Did you move to Cali yet? I didn't get the job in San Francisco, but I may another opportunity for a different job (or else I'll be homeless with a sick mother, a German shepherd, and two defective cats in January... yeah, sounds exciting).
Anyway, I totally agree with you about Morgan. I mean, the eyebrnows are awesome and all... but in this paricular episode not even the eyebrows could overcome the dickish behavior. Oh Morgan...
And awesomely stoic Hotch is awesomely stoic. I don't know if you saw tonight's episode (6.07, "Middle Men"), but Hotch delivers a Hotchalanche (actually several Hotchalaches) which make my little Hotch fangirl heart go pitter patter. Oh, Hotch, you are so made of win.
But I hope that you're doing well. Epic Crossover has been on a hiatus because my current job is trying to overwork me to death before they lay me off. Oh joy... But I will get back to Epic Crossover... I promise.
Aw, I'm sorry to hear about the SF job. I hope you find something else and don't end up having to deal with that ridiculous conglomeration of stress-inducing factors- I think that would honestly be enough to cause anyone an aneurysm. Are you going to try and stay in the central CA region, do you think?
And yeah, I successfully made the move cross country to the north coast and have just been trying to get my bearings for a few weeks. Apparently I actually have to go camping as part of the field research for this position, which is new and, you know... outside... in the woods. As it turns out I really love my bed, in my house, in the city.
As a direct result of general life craziness I have been completely unable to write anything. At all. And I'm behind on CM in general, which is so sad. The CM_Exchange stories cannot come soon enough. And the EC very seriously cannot come soon enough. Obviously your homicidal current job takes precedent, though, and I'm sorry things are so overwhelming right now

I'm currently in Los Angeles and I'm conflicted about where to go. I guess where I can find a job, huh? My preference would actually be to move to the Washington DC area. I'm from the East Coast originally, but I've been in California for a long time now (over 17 years), most of it in L.A. I'm feeling really restless here right now and have this kind of desperate need to move on. But... yeah... desires and jobs don't always go together, and stress-inducing factors are making me a little insane right now. Bleh... Fortunately, my workload at work just went down as of yesterday for the next several weeks, so I'll actually have time to breathe and apply for other jobs and exciting things like that
