On Thursdays, the world feels so much more familiar to Yoochun...
For my wonderful waifu and the Jun to my Chun - itsplashes. You've inspired me and you never knew it...

Sometimes Yoochun sits and wonders what is so familiar about Thursdays. He knows it is so silly to think that there is something that he might be missing because it was there before, or have this feeling that someone was going to do this because it just felt right.

He knows this is impossible, but Yoochun still believes in that strange sense of déjà vu that sweeps over him every Thursday morning.

His routine is the same most days, but today is his favorite. He tries to guess what is going to happen - just because he wants to prove to Jaejoong that sometimes he can be right about things. He likes to watch the people at the bakery gossip, see new people enter and set the tingling bell off, and most of all he likes to smell the different scents of the many people that drop by.

On Thursday, Yoochun works the cash register, his dark brown locks pulled back into a light red (faded into an almost pink hue) hair-tie. He wears the required uniform that Jaejoong presses for him everyday - every Thursday at least. It looks odd, makes him feel more effeminate, but he does not mind much - the looks and compliments make it worth it.

Rolling up the sleeves of the uniform, wondering why it is so hot even though it is the middle of autumn (but he knows Jaejoong has this thing about keeping the heater on all the time and they are in a bakery after all), Yoochun sweeps his dark gaze over the many customers loitering about the quaint shop. He never knows why Jaejoong has not moved into a bigger location - taken his little business to the city instead of this tiny town - but he thinks it must be because of the tall, handsome stranger that his best friend is talking to so quietly.

This is what makes Thursdays special.

The people. They come in, greeting him with warm smiles and friendly stares. They chatter about the latest news, gossip, jobs - anything and everything to make their country life seem more glamorous. They are scents that are not new to him anymore, but this does not keep him from enjoying them any less. They are like his favorite flavors of ice cream, and every so many Thursdays he gets a taste of something new - exotic.

He swipes his fringe from his line of vision, glancing back up again, only to find two large and beautiful brown eyes staring straight into his own. He smiles shyly, dunking his head down and blushing hotly because men like the one before him are not common in this area - so far away from Seoul and Inchon, stuck in between rice fields and murky waters of the Han River.

“Hello, how may I help you?” Yoochun asks softly, trying to keep his composure and serve this man, not ogle him like he was before.

The attractive man lets his grin broaden and answers, “I was wanting to try some of those little cookies that I have heard so much about, but I think I’d like something sweeter.”

Yoochun furrows his brows, blinks cutely, and queries the other man, “What are you referring to, sir?”

“Kim Junsu. And I’d like to take a certain Park Yoochun on a date.”

Yoochun finds the impromptu comment slightly sudden, but there is something familiar about the way he smells. The scent of fresh air and a light touch of cologne invades the cashier’s senses.

Yoochun takes the rest of the day off and spends the rest of his Thursday with the man who introduced himself as Kim Junsu.

On Thursday, Yoochun goes to the park with Junsu. They may have just met, but they already have so many things in common. Yoochun lets Junsu hold his hand as they walk down a tiny path. He laughs along to Junsu’s dorky jokes, plays with the tiny children that he has never seen before, and he tries so hard to contain his blush when Junsu stares at him in that one way.

Yoochun does not know Junsu, but sometimes it feels like his heart does.

They sit on swings and talk about anything - everything. He likes the way Junsu laughs, a unique and boisterous giggle that has Yoochun bursting with happiness because it is just that infectious a noise - a feeling. Junsu pushes Yoochun, lets the other kick his feet off the ground and Yoochun feels like he is five again and not twenty years old.

He feels like if he just stretched his hands a bit more, he would be able to touch forever and be one with the sky. He would like to take Junsu there with him one day, he thinks, but does not tell the other.

Instead he reveals that he is afraid of heights. In turn Junsu says he is afraid of falling.

It is left unclear as to what Junsu is afraid of falling in to, but Yoochun thinks he understands because he feels a bit terrified of that as well. But he is no longer awake and his breathing has evened out, light puffs of air against Junsu’s neck as the younger male carries Yoochun back to Yoochun’s house.

He dreams of nothing, but he can still smell the hint of cologne that threatens to disappear.

On Thursday, Junsu takes Yoochun out again.

It is just like the first night, but tonight holds the promise of fireworks in the eastern night sky. Yoochun is excited - breathtaking with his raven locks pulled back with a few wispy strands tickling his forehead - and he claps along happily as the people set up the stands, readying themselves for the light show to come.

Yoochun snuggles closer in Junsu’s arms, the smell overwhelming him again and he cannot help but to nuzzle the tip of his nose into the other’s neck. Junsu chuckles, his laughter carried away with the wind that blows by, and he plays with Yoochun’s dainty fingers.

“I like to play the piano,” Yoochun murmurs sleepily, his eyes gazing up at the exploding brightness that flickers across the clear night sky.

Stars twinkle overhead, lighting up with every loud clap of fireworks that trek by and explode in the air. The moon hangs overhead and Yoochun finds the setting very romantic - the kind of scene that Jaejoong dreams up while they work by each other some times, girlishly discussing where they would like to go for dates. Yoochun has never known any other better place than at the park to spend a day at -

- but then he thinks that the only thing that matters is the person that he is with; Junsu is perfect, he thinks as he stares into the eyes the reflect the lit up sky so wonderfully.

Then Junsu returns the stare and says, “I would like to kiss Yoochun.”

So, Yoochun closes his eyes, lets the light pink buds of the younger man touch his, and feels the magic inside him come leaping through his every pore. Junsu does not push for anything further, and Yoochun thinks that they have time for more later. They have only known each other for a short while - he still wants to learn more about the man named Kim Junsu.

Junsu traces the curve of his jaw and Yoochun knows that they are creating fireworks of their own.

On Thursday, Junsu says he is in love.

They are sitting in a cute little café that Junsu takes him to somewhere within the heart of the town. Yoochun does not think he has been here before - never knew it existed, but he has been busy more so lately than ever with the shop. Junsu reveals that it is a new establishment, but they are good at what they do - what they make, and Yoochun finds this to be true as well.

His eyes light up like starlight as he sips at the sugary liquid Junsu slid before him. It is bitter and sweet and he can taste a hint of chocolate in the substance. He gets giddy and high, until he cannot contain his delight and he has Junsu running through fields of rice, hand-in-hand and they are laughing merrily into the light morning sky.

Birds chirp happily in the trees and the warm sunshine feels nice against his face, but nothing sounds better - feels better - than Junsu holding him and laughing alongside him. It feels like first love, and Yoochun hopes for it to last. Even when they collapse into a heap on the ground and Junsu’s leaning over him, Yoochun smells grass and air and everything that makes up Junsu.

“Yoochun,” he calls hoarsely, like he has not used his voice in so long - which the older male knows to be untrue, they were joking and laughing before - but he catches onto the hint of desperation laced within the other’s voice. “Will you remember me forever?”

Yoochun giggles like a child, eyes closed tight and mouth open wide, and he answers happily, “Of course! Why would I forget?”

“I’m not worth remembering,” Junsu jokes along but for some reason Yoochun finds a bit of seriousness hidden in his words.

They lay hidden in the tall grasses for a long time, and Yoochun huddles closer to the loving warmth that his new friend radiates. They lace fingers, Yoochun’s brown eyes trying to meet the liquid chocolate of Junsu’s, and he feels the long weeds caress his face ever so gently.

“I think I’m falling in love with you.” The words are quiet, broken, and pleading for something. No one knows and maybe that is best. Junsu lets his own eyes blink shut, block out the overpowering sunlight, and then shifts them to the tiny male beside him…

But Yoochun is already napping peacefully at Junsu’s side and the sun is no longer shining.

On Thursday, Yoochun wakes up to loud voices echoing from downstairs. He slips out of his bed, tiptoes down the hallway and sits himself down at the top of the stairs, listening to the voices increase in pitch and despair.

“Give up! You’re hurting yourself, Junsu!”

Yoochun strains his eyes to see inside the living room, but all he can make out is Jaejoong’s heated stance and blazing eyes. He cannot see the person that Jaejoong is directing this intensity toward, but he knows it is not something wrong that the man has done.

He hears a broken sigh, and then, “I can’t give up on him just like that, Joongie. I love him - I have for four years. I fall in love with him more and more everyday.”

“Junsu…”

Yoochun clutches at the left side of his chest, feeling a pang in his heart as he hears the sobs of the man that Jaejoong is speaking to. He wishes he could see. He wishes he knew what they were speaking of. The scent wafts up toward him and he smells fresh air and a tint of cologne.

“…I can’t. I love him so much.”

Yoochun goes back to his room and buries himself under the covers. It is Thursday, his favorite day of the week, but for some reason today feels unfamiliar - different - and he does not know why. He tells Jaejoong he is tired and sick, but really he is just confused - and his best friend knows this, too, because he has that guilty look in his eye… like this has happened before.

Yoochun spends the remainder of the day wondering who Junsu is.

On Thursday, Yoochun feels lonely and he does not know why. Everything is in order, Jaejoong chats with the tall and handsome man that introduces himself as Shim Changmin - Jae’s new boyfriend - and Yoochun is working the register again - as was custom on Thursdays.

The scents are a blend of vaguely familiar and then the new, exquisite. But there is something missing. Yoochun frowns and feels his insides twist painfully. Today is Thursday, but he decides he hates it most of all now.

On Thursday, Yoochun feels suffocated and unable to breathe. He is unfocused and messes up orders, burns his hands while trying to make coffee, and cries in the bathroom during his fifteen minute break. Jaejoong worriedly asks what is wrong, his frantic knocks on the bathroom door only answered with tearful sobs. The man that calls himself by the name of Shim Changmin - he introduced himself that morning as Jae’s lover - calls the doctor.

There is a rush of unfamiliar scents that smell nothing of baked bread or fresh air. Yoochun panics; arms slap away the men that make grabs for him and kicks when they try to calm him. They are not familiar and there is something he wants to cry out for -

- if only he could remember what he wanted to say - or who he wanted to see…

On Thursday Yoochun feels sore and weak. He slumps against the counter, rings up orders, and does not smile or laugh with Jaejoong. Shim Changmin smells nice, he thinks - and mentions as much, but he says little else to the stranger. He thinks that maybe the male named Changmin is in love with his best friend Jaejoong.

He hears the bell over the door chime, its tune moving quickly to ting in Yoochun’s ears. He looks up, ready to greet the new customer with his husky voice - low and hoarse from disuse; he did not feel like talking - but he catches a whiff of something oddly familiar as the man nears the counter, looking all the bit hesitant and unsure.

The newcomer smiles softly, ready to introduce himself or place an order, but before he can, Yoochun speaks up. And in the distance he hears a loud clanging of pans, and Jaejoong’s yelp of surprise - but all that is lost on the other two people and Yoochun finally finds the word he has wanted to call out. It is just a sigh escaping his lips - relieved and fluttery - but holds so much meaning to the two males.

“Junsu.”

Yoochun finds that he can breathe again.

Author's Notes: Really I have no clue as to where this idea was spawned from. How it got into my head is still unknown but I did like it... Just the thought of a love that could last even through memory loss - that could very well be permanent - intrigued me, and I've been promising my Junnie that I'd write for her one day (and she does love my shy/embarrassed!Chun - it was only fair; hopefully she likes this Chun as well) I love you more than you know ©

If you are wondering, Yoochun lost his memory in some accident prior to the storyline and only remembers a few things.  The accident happened one year previous to the main storyline, and at the time of the accident, JunChun had been together for two years - meeting at the bakery Jae owns.  It was Thursday.  So, technically, JunChun have been together for four years in the actual oneshot itself.  But after the accident, Yoochun loses all recollection of the two years between the time of meeting Junsu and the accident.

Sorry if I have confused anyone - I'll try to explain better after I get myself some sleep (I've been working on this for too many hours today, after hours of exams and little sleep) I'll fix it later... spot any errors or whatever let me know.  And tell me what you think of the fic, too~ :)

length: oneshot, p: jaejoong/changmin, p: yoochun/junsu, centric: yoochun, centric: junsu
