I can't help but notice two major things in social media over the last few years: intellectual discourse becoming scarcer and spambots, spambots everywhere.
IDK what kind of protection the servers have on US soil either, TBH, but I still feel like I trust it more than a country where rule of law isn't exactly doing so fine ATM :/
Have you heard about Eternal September? Because I kind of feel like that's where we are - or something close enough. The internet used to demand at least some degree of tech-savviness, but when everyone and their dog can get on facebook through their phone, there are a lot of people out there who just don't realise that the internet is public space. And IDK if there were any less fourteen year olds in fandom back in the day, but what's happening on tumblr certainly feels like there's been a generational shift towards a younger demographic that isn't... err, too used to critical thinking.
No, I haven't, but I guess a lot of predictive writing is probably becoming very vital now.
I feel like we're at a truly unique place in human history where we have amassed so much knowledge, but it's any question what we'll do with all of it...
