Lankford once told me that his wife (then girlfriend) had stuck with him through some long illness/hospitalization on his part in their early days, and that's how he "knew she was the one." Of course, as moving as that is, it still fits in with the general trend of women remaining more committed than men. If you re-present the statistics, it can sound slightly less ominous when you say (if I have it right) that a women is just under twice as likely to get divorced in sickness as in health, but still, that's a terrible statistic to consider.
