I think it's operetta, like The Merry Widow, The Mikado, Pirates, The Enchantress, Little Mary Sunshine, and Conversation Piece in this book and Street Scene, Threepenny, Lady in the Dark, and Happy End in the last. It's one of the reasons I love this series, although I like volume two better because I'm not a big Weill fan.
