New Orleans is a disaster area. The entire metroplex is being totally evacuated. Damage is terrible. I-10 West over the lake is totally gone. East New Orleans is underwater, and the water is still rising, the last I heard. The levees broke in three places, the power grid is totally off, and all cell communication is out in the area. No one is allowed back in, and they're saying it might be weeks and weeks before the area is safe again. None of this started to come out until daybreak today (Monday).
I'm so sorry dear, to be the bearer of this news. But I will keep you up to speed, via this entry.
My love and best to you and your family. We will be keeping you in our prayers. Stay safe.

Slidell was on CNN this morning and Mayor Morris said that it will
probably be 12 weeks before Slidell even gets power again. A lot of
the homes had trees on top of them and pretty much all of the were
flooded. If you can go to cnn.com later today you should be able to
see some of the footage from this morning. But they are advising that
residents not come home because there is no electricity, the streets
are still flooded and there are no stores open. I will keep you
updated.
Love,
amy
