When I was in grade school I knew a girl named Elizabeth who never, ever said a thing. This was not because she couldn't, no, but because she chose not to. When a teacher went through roll call in the morning other students would have to pipe up and say, "Elizabeth's here." I'm sure she found someone. It makes me sad when people get a rep ust because they simply didn't speak, even if they had the ability too. I bet she was one of the sweetest girls.

You know what they say about still waters. I'll bet there was a hell of a lot going on in that head of hers, but she may have just been too overwhelmed to say it. When I was little, I was also very shy. Though I didn't remain silent all the time, I said considerably less than the people around me, and gave the impression of being some kind of holy, goody goody little thing. Boy, did that ever change. Now you can't shut me UP, and I am the antithesis of holy...*smirk*. My guess is she grew out of it.
