I've been reading stories on mental_floss this morning about random acts of kindness. So, flist, what's the nicest thing a stranger has ever done for you? The comments are definitely worth a read, and some of them are amazing.

Day 17 - Favorite mini seriesI'm not sure this counts as a mini series, but it originally aired in two parts, so I'm ( Read more... )

The nicest thing I can think of at the moment was some years back. I was going to a local theme park with my mother and this woman came up to us and just handed us a free ticket in. Considering the park fee was over $30 it was a really nice thing to do and it came out of nowhere.

That story sounds horribly familiar. I feel like I saw a show about it though I don't believe it was the mini series you mentioned. It's sad that it has such a horrible end. It would have been nicer if both boys had gotten out and then went on to have full lives. How sad.

Awww, that was really nice. I spent all day yesterday reading those stories off and on, then last night I went out with my co-workers and a few of us stopped by the store on our way home. We were on the other side of the store when one of the older ladies decided she needed a shopping cart, so I went to get her one. I'd only taken a couple of steps when this random guy, who had apparently overheard us, told me to take his, and he went to get another. It wasn't anything big, but it was still nice.

The whole thing is so unbearably sad. It seems so unfair that so many horrible things could happen to one family.

That's still nice though. It must have been some sort of karmic thing. You were feeling good, putting good out there and got some back. It's always nice to hear, no matter how small.

Sometimes it just happens that way. I know I've heard of other families who have met with similar strife. It does make you wonder though why these things happen in one family. Makes me wonder if curses aren't real to some degree.
