I just got home from Pittsburgh aka Steel town USA aka "city of bridges"
Although there were quite a few moments when i was not the happiest person, i still really did enjoy myself.
Friday: We got at Cindy and Marks house around 8 and there was already a party going on. Polish weddings last for at least 3 days of course. I didnt do too much except watch the picture slide shows of all the old pictures. I swear my dad has to be in at least 2/3 pictures. Tony and Michael didnt come until late since it was homecoming football game. They basically only stayed for 10 minutes and i was falling asleep anyway. We stayed over Cindy and Marks the entire trip, fyi.
Saturday: WEDDING DAY, WEDDING DAY! Stephanie and Rob decided to have an early wedding, so we had to be at the church by 12. The ceremony was in this BEAUTIFUL basilica called St. Vincents. The priest.. was hillarious. It was the only homily i have ever heard at a wedding about wife beating. he also said to never call your husband a fool, because then you're the wife of a fool. Good advice. The reception was right after the mass at a country club. I basically hung out with Michael the whole time and somehow convinced my mom and my aunt to get us screwdrivers. The guy yelled at us and told us we had to drink it outside where no one would see us since we're under age. whatever. They wouldnt get us anymore =\ The reception lasted until 9 ish. then we just went back to cindy and marks.
Sunday: Surprise surprise, ANOTHER PARTY! It was at Dee Dee's. I didnt do very much at this party considering that MICHAEL WAS SUCH AN ASSSSSSSS and didnt come. even though he promised me that he would. but once again, my aunt carol got me a rum and coke. i dont think she put very much rum in it though... but shes on the list of the coolest aunt. not too many exciting events happened at this party except for me being bored.
Monday: Today, since there were no more official parties, we went into downtown Pittsburgh, since my relatives all live in the burbs of pitts, much like how we live by the city. We pretty much went to the incline and then went to eat at this place called the grand view saloon. For those of you who dont know what the incline is (most of you, im guessing).. this is the incline.
Yeah, its pretty scary. and it goes really slow. think about if that cable breaks. you're flyin down that thing. but the view of the skyline from up there was spec-tacular. we didnt do much when we came down the incline. we went in the hard rock cafe and my mom touched keith richards guitar. then we went in this little mall thing. i cannot believe how much steelers stuff there is. I acutally got this cool scarf thats black and gold since its both RD and pitts colors.
Um nothign too exciting. We went to Dee's for dinner that night with aunt donna, steph, and rob. Later on my grandparents, aunt stephie and uncle bob, and aunt catherine came. I got really upset when it was time for Aunt Catherine to leave. She's 88 and not doing terribly well and now she has to move to minnesoda with her daughter. It isnt like shes leaving a few years of her life. She has lived in pittsburgh her whole life. shes leaving everything she knows. I got really upset because we always thinkg, oh next time we go to Pittsburgh we'll see her.. but its not like we go to minnesoda very often. i actually started to cry. i cant even think about it too much cause ill get upset. We went home shortly after
Tuesday: We basically just went home. which is where i am now. fun.
So the Pittsburgh area has SO MUCH OPEN SPACE. i was going through country shock. open fields everywhere.
im glad to be back in the dell.
if we took any pictures ill post them.
