Star Driver Wikia Personality:
A simple minded and pure person at heart, Takuto fits the bill almost perfectly for being your average sunny and optimistic hero of a shounen series. Wanting to make his mark in the world, he gives his utmost effort in trying to make the most mundane of things seem exciting. Such as with school, he outright says he wants to do something amazing and this is an example of how he wants to make the most out of life as it is; trying to bring out the best in everything. He also demonstrates this by saying he wants to sing out his youth when inquired on why he chose the school he did. All in all however, he's just your typical teenage boy with his very own peculiarities here and there. Like every other teenager his age, he does have his share of problems.
One trait of his that many of the characters in the series like and admire about him is that he’s honest and doesn’t normally hesitate to say or do what’s on his mind. In fact, he rarely ever finds things to hide sans his feelings for Wako - but even then he doesn't do a very good job of hiding it. So being the positive and open person he is, he isn’t one to hold back things he wants to say, even if they aren't things the average person would. This surprises those around him, especially Wako and if it doesn't, it usually impresses them. This can also cause him act rashly, example being when he runs into his father at the beach. Without much indecision, he goes right up to him and punches squarely in the face - something he had been wanting to do for a while. This is due to the fact that his father did leave him and his mother and was threatening the safety of two of his most important people.
His honesty also ties in with his innocent vision of the world and allows him to get along well with people like Mizuno, and just people in general; being able to get along with the former because he earnestly believes what she says. He isn’t one to hold much prejudice either, not minding the rumours at all that revolve around Mizuno. Such as when there are rumours about her being a witch, he doesn't take it to heart at all and even makes use of the "magic spell" she taught him during a baseball game and uses it sincerely to boot. As a result of his childish views, however, Takuto is easily flustered when it has to do with matters of the heart. Primarily shown through his and Kanako’s interactions, she often flirts with him which makes him incredibly uncomfortable. He even goes to lengths such as avoiding talking to her. His innocence also causes him to be wary and easily riled by her kissing through the glass habits - claiming that it’s just like a normal kiss. However awkward he may be around her though, he isn’t rude to her at all despite how much she teases and plays with him. There are also the moments where Wako jokes about joining him and Sugata in the bath, and Benio playing bath ninja back when he lived in the dorms - he reacts rather strongly to both of these instances, turning bright red and protests about them outright.
Takuto can often act rather impulsively. Shown during the first episode of the show, he swims across the sea to make it to the island after missing a ferry - not wanting to be late for the opening ceremony of all things. When Sugata mentions that he could’ve just taken the morning ferry, he just laughs it off saying that at least he made it through alive, even when Sugata mentions that if Wako hadn’t found him he could’ve died. There's also the bike incident from before he even came to the Southern Cross Islands - riding it and gaining his scar because he wanted to be as radiant as his friend Natsuo.
It’s rare to see Takuto upset over something and more often than not, it will involve either Wako, Sugata, or both of them. A loyal friend to the very core, he’ll always without a doubt go out of his way to make sure that they’re okay. It can also be noted that they’re both equally as important to him, not wanting to sacrifice his close brother-like bond with Sugata for a romantic relationship with Wako. He even wonders about their relationship himself - asking both himself and Wako that if their friendships would still be able to co-exist in the instance Sugata and Wako got married. He's generally thoughtful about all his friends and this thoughtfulness is shown during his childhood as well. Just like in current times, he held back his crush for Hana simply because of his friendship with her and Natsuo. But also due to this aspect of his, he isn't prone to telling his friends when he's upset.
Strengths/Weaknesses:
★≈ He can easily make those around him smile, whether it's through his optimistic behaviour or just by being himself.
★≈ Good at adapting as shown in his battles during Zero Time and outside of it. An instance of this is shown during his sparring matches with Benio - after losing to her once, he's able to recognize her strategy and is able to counter it effectively and easily without making the same mistake he did before.
★≈ High stamina and athletic ability. He's capable of swimming across the sea - doing so just because he missed a ferry from the mainland to the island. Takuto's also shown to be relatively proficient at baseball.
★≈ Confident in himself.
≈ Takuto's extremely loyal when it comes to his best friends' Sugata and Wako. While this is a strength, it could also be seen as a weakness as well since his decisions are often very rash when it comes to either of them.
≈ Being a pure hearted boy, this can also go both ways. While it allows him to see the world in a way other people would not, it also causes most romantic advances to fly over his head and fluster him quite easily.
≈ Stubborn -- does what he believes in and nothing can really stop him in doing so.
☆≈ Although getting on his bad side is difficult, his grudges are often long lasting. This is shown through his grudge on father for both deserting him and his mother at a young age, never getting over it even during present day.
☆≈ Impulsive, shown not only when he decides to swim across the sea which endangered his life, but also when he decides to ride Natsuo's bicycle which caused a huge 'X'-shaped scar on his chest.
☆≈ One to hide his feelings if it causes concern or may affect his standings with his closest friends.
☆≈ Places other's happiness before his. Such as, his birthday happens to fall on the same date as Sugata's -- but he doesn't let Wako or Sugata know. He even keeps Wako company while shopping for a gift for him.

W-what is with this w-weather? [Grumble grumble.]
[Currently trudging through Route 29 and towards Cherrygrove City with Vice President safely tucked into his backpack, he was having more than a little trouble getting through all the sleet and hail. This was most likely due to the fact he wasn't exactly dressed for the weather - wearing only two thin layers on top and not even having an umbrella to shield himself. When he had first left New Bark Town, it was so nice and sunny that the sudden downturn was more than unexpected. Plus, he was in a huge rush to get to the next town so checking the weather forecast had completely flew out of his mind. He was about half a day into his hike, and most people would probably be turning back since that would get them to shelter the quickest. But not him, because he had a duty to fulfill and even the most minor of setbacks were bound to add up eventually.]
M-man, t-that badge rumour had b-b-better been t-true. [His teeth were clattering and he was shivering throughout his entire body. Reconnaissance in the previous town had given him the information that collecting all eight of them would grant him a ticket back home, so it was no shock that he had started travelling as soon as possible. The only way to gain these badges would be to train up a full party of Pokemon as well and challenge the so-called leaders -- which would only add onto the days, even months that he could be spending here.]
I c-can't waste time like this! [Teeth now grit, frustration was clearly written all over his face. If the timing hadn't been so bad, he might've been his usual enthusiastic self by everything, but... With what was currently happening back at home, who would ensure his friends' safeties if he wasn't there?] I-if anything happens to them... [How would he ever be able to forgive himself? Especially after all those promises he made to the both of them, and he was dead-set on sticking to his words after hard he tried to prove them.]
A-aaachooo---! [Of course, his constant sneezing wasn't helping him think any. So at the moment, it was probably best that he got himself out of the pinch. In the end, he decided that he would keep on truckin' it no matter how much his body protested.]
Third Person Sample:
When he awoke, he found that his head was feeling particularly heavy, literally. There was a yellow creature sitting on his forehead - peering directly into his eyes as he fluttered them open. If he didn’t just wake up in some stranger’s room, it was possible he’d be feeling a sense of déjà vu. However, that wasn’t the case since he couldn’t ever remember Sugata’s guestroom bed being so stiff or having bed sheets that were decorated with red and white coloured balls. Also, wasn’t he just talking to Wako when Zero Time had interrupted them? Unless, of course, he just dreamt up the whole day with his friends and he was starting to wake up from what appeared to be a long dream. But that didn’t seem very likely for some reason, nor did it settle right with him.
With so questions in his head already abuzz, he naturally jolted upright without much of a second thought. This resulted in the Pichu idling itself on his head to topple right over and land several centimetres away on its face.
“... Vice President?” Temporarily distracted from his thoughts, the Pichu made sounds of protest as it quickly got up on its feet. Turning its head towards him, it looked as if it were going to start bawling on him at any moment and at that, Takuto began to panic and wonder what he was supposed to do with it if it did. Luckily for him on the other hand, in the end it decided to suck up its tears and cling to his arm instead. Now he was certain that the thing wasn’t Vice now that he had gotten a better glimpse of it. It looked similar to the fox-like creature, but it acted quite different and instead of looking much akin to a fox... it was more of a yellow mouse than anything. Tugging at the Pokémon to release it from his arm, it let go a little reluctantly before using it as a ramp to run up and make a home out of his hair. Although he let out a sigh, he couldn't help but let loose a smile as well due to its antics.
