ok, here's my thoughts. Its never too early to get into stocks and funds and such. I think it would be a great idea, if he understands what it means. and all that stuff. perhaps some stocks or things, and a book about the market and trading? i like surfing the web looking at my financial websites, keeping track of stocks i'd like to own someday... so i say a qualified yes.
