[237, Thursday, Late Evening]

Mar 01, 2007 22:22

D'anna, she was sure, on her second day of a migraine.

As such, she had nearly beat the alarm clock to a pulp trying to turn it off.

She ought to take something for her head. After a few tries, she made it to the sofa, and had a seat.

Too bad this wasn't Monday like she thought, but Thursday.

She was also dead wrong about the migraine. It was something much worse.

Molly

D'anna had missed the cheer meeting yesterday. Molly, still worrying a little about her, had called several times during the evening, but had only gotten D'anna's voice mail.

So, today, Molly had come to see if D was home or not. She knocked for quite a while and debated just breaking the door down. She also thought about going to get her lock picks, but then decided to check with Alex first. He might know where D'anna was. If not, she could go get her picks and they could check D'anna's room together.

Molly finally quit knocking and went the few doors down to Alex's room and knocked there.

Krycek

Krycek answered after a moment and smiled at seeing Molly. "Hey you," he said in greeting. "What's up?"

Molly

Molly smiled back, but her expression quickly slipped into one of worry. "Hi, Alex. Have you talked to D'anna at all in the past couple days?"

Krycek

"No, I haven't seen her lately," he said after thinking a moment. He frowned, seeing her expression. "Why, did something happen?"

Molly

"She hit her head after the competition this weekend, but wouldn't go to the clinic," Molly told him, trying not to get too worried. "She missed our cheer meeting yesterday and hasn't answered her phone and now she isn't answering her door and I don't know if it's because she's not home or if something is wrong and I didn't want to break down the door without finding out if you knew where she was first..." Okay, she was already more than a little worried.

Krycek

Krycek's frowned deepened. "Great. Okay, we need to get in there then," he said. "I don't think I can break down the door - they're pretty heavy. Could you?"

Molly

Molly nodded. "Or I could pick the lock," she said. "I have lock picks in my room. Should I run and get them?"

Krycek

"Definitely," he said, glancing down the hall towards D'anna's room. "I'll get shoes on and meet you in front of her door in a couple minutes."

Molly

Molly nodded and ran as fast as she could for the stairs.

Krycek

Pulling on shoes quickly, he walked down the hall to 237 and tried knocking. When she didn't answer, he cupped his hands against the door and tried to listen for anything inside - still nothing. Krycek sighed and cursed under his breath, hoping she'd just gone off planet with no warning again or something.

Molly

Molly was out of breath when she got back. Not bothering to say anything to Alex, she promptly knelt in front of the door and went to work on picking the lock. Her worry over D'anna wasn't helping her work the picks quickly, but the lock opened soon enough.

She turned the knob and pushed the door open, but didn't rise from her knees quite yet.

Krycek

Krycek didn't mind, in fact was rather glad that Molly wasn't panicking. He leaned into the room as the door swung open, looking around and reaching out to flip the light switch that he remembered being on the wall. "D'anna?"

D'anna

As the lights came on, it was clear that D'anna was passed out on her sofa in the far corner of the room. She made no response.

Krycek

"D'anna!" Krycek walked into the room, heading towards the couch and kneeling beside it to check her vitals. Who knew how long she'd been lying there? "Molly, I think we need to get help on this," he said, his calm belied by the worried expression on his face. "How hard did she hit her head?"

Molly

Molly was still kneeling in the doorway, staring wide eyed at D'anna. "Is she..." She couldn't finish her question. Instead, she shifted her gaze to stare at Alex, begging him to answer anyway.

Krycek

"She's not dead," he said, looking at Molly. "But we definitely need help."

Molly

Molly let out a breath she hadn't known she'd been holding. Finally standing up, she went over to join Krycek next to D'anna. "She said she didn't want to go to the clinic. I think she let Janet look at her after it happened, but I don't know how much."

Krycek

"Let's get Janet then," Krycek said, sighing. "Stubborn woman. Do you know where she is?"

Molly

Molly shook her head. "Except for cheerleading, I don't know Janet very well."

Krycek

"I think her room's down the hall. In the one they knocked down the wall, if I remember right," he said. "Can you go check?"

Molly

Molly nodded and left the room again quickly.

She went down the hall to what she hoped was Janet's room and knocked urgently on the door.

Janet

Janet yanked her door open and blinked when she saw Molly. "Uh, hi, Molly," she said. "Is something wrong?"

Molly

"It's D'anna," Molly said, obviously agitated. "Something's wrong. Please come look." Without waiting for a response, she turned and headed back to D'anna's room.

Janet

Janet frowned. "What are her symptoms?" she asked, but Molly was already gone. She grabbed her medkit from next to the bed and ran down the hall after her.

Krycek

Krycek turned around when Molly came back in, but he was looking for Janet and he beckoned her in when she appeared in the doorway.

"She's unconscious - seems to be breathing okay and she's got a pulse," he said, gesturing to D'anna where she lay still on the couch, with a blanket Krycek had draped over her while Molly has gone to get Janet.

Janet

"That's the bare minimum, at least," said Janet, nodding at Krycek as she walked quickly over to D'Anna. She reached out and placed her fingers on D's wrist as she glanced at her watch to check her pulse rate. "Her body temperature's elevated too. I'm going to guess we'll find a low-grade fever when we take her temperature. Do you know how long she's been unconscious?"

Molly

Molly had moved to where she could see what Janet was doing, but wouldn't be in the way. "I started calling her after she missed the cheer meeting yesterday," she volunteered. "She never answered, but I just thought... hoped, really, that maybe she was out because it was break. Other than that I haven't seen her since the competition."

Janet

"Where she had the head injury," said Janet. She fished her penlight out of her purse and pulled D's eyelids open to check her pupils. "I should know never to believe anyone who says they'll go to the clinic on their own."

Krycek

Krycek sighed, annoyed and worried. "Especially headstrong, stubborn women," he said, voice low. "I should've checked on her before this."

Janet

"I should have too," said Janet, as she finished up examining D'anna. "I should have known she wouldn't go to the clinic." She closed her eyes, then opened them again and looked at Molly and Krycek. "Right now, all we can do is hope for the best. And call her parents."
