awesome dude, im gonna get getting a barton AMD 3000+ and 1 gig of PC3200 ram this christmas hopefully... what vid card you got in that thing? erm...btw i have no friggin idea who you are, but obviously you went to CL and you know doug so that works for me
barton 3000+ is where it's at. not quite so expensive as the 3200+. that, and it's availabe in 333mhz FSB, which i needed for my new motherboard since i bought it a few months ago. either way, this thing flies, i'm happy that i went with it. as for cooling this chip though, most everything i've read has said the packaged heatsink/fans that come with the 3000+'s and 3200+'s are less than satisfying. not that they don't work, but they could do a better job. now the Tt Volcano 12 is pretty expensive for a heatsink, so if you're on a budget, it's not something i'd suggest. it does do a very good job of keeping the chip cool, though, so it's worth the cash if you've got it.
as for my vid card, i've got a geforce fx 5600 ultra(only 128mb ddr since they didn't offer 256mb versions of the ultra when i bought it) in my main box, and an ati radeon 9200 in my second box.
