Sometimes, the sun shines so brightly that it blinds you. It hurts your eyes, and you try to block out the rays, but they make their way through the gaps between your fingers anyway.
You turn - soft sheets wrinkling as you do - and you find that he’s still there. You reach out to run your fingers gently through his blond hair, then you smile as the sun rays find their way around him, covering his body with warm kisses.
The moisture on his slightly parted lips sparkle like little diamonds (and you want to pick them out one by one with your mouth). His cheeks are flushed pink - a soft contrast to the golden sheen painted by sunlight on his porcelain skin.
When he opens his eyes, they are like prisms reflecting his soul in Technicolor. Good morning, sunshine, he whispers.
And in that moment, you finally understand the sun.
